We have an opportunity to join the packing team at our Sodium Bicarbonate plant in Winnington, Northwich. In this role you will join one of our 5 continuous shift teams and be responsible for ensuring the safe packing, loading and milling of various grades of sodium bicarbonate, to meet the needs of our customers. The plant manufactures and packs product which is used in the food and pharmaceutical sectors. We therefore have high quality and hygiene standards which must be adhered to, as well as training requirements some of which are on the job and some delivered via e-learning, which requires a degree of comfort using IT systems. Flexibility, a willingness to learn new skills and maintaining high standards are all critical to success in this role.
A key requirement of this role is a valid FLT license or you have held one within the last 12 months, applicants will not be shortlisted without this.
What will I be doing?
- Packing, loading and milling products from a number of different pack points within the Plant, in order to satisfy the customer demand patterns and the packing plan.
- Controlling the dispatch of finished products and the receipt, storage and control of raw materials to the plant and packing areas.
- Ensuring the product is at the correct standard following the plant, QA, hygiene and packing procedures.
What kind of person are we looking for?
- Has a relevant qualification such as NVQ in Process operations, NVQ in Warehouse operations and/or NVQ2 in Maintenance.
- Holds a valid FLT license or has held one within the last 12 months, applicants will not be shortlisted without this.
- Has worked previously in a warehouse/packing team or a chemical manufacturing plant.
- Has in-depth knowledge of packing & warehousing operations.
- Is comfortable using IT systems and packages.
- Enjoys working in a multi-disciplined team.
- Has a desire to continually improve performance.
- Experience gained in a food or pharmaceutical working environment could be an advantage.
What are the perks?
- The starting rate for this role is £25,837+ 25% shift allowance (£32,296 in total) rising to £28,707 + 25% shift allowance (£35,883 in total) in two stages over a period of 2 years in line with training and performance.
- A flexible shift pattern of 4 x 12-hour shifts, (2 days and 2 nights with 6 days off).
- One fixed 18-day summer break (when pattern becomes 4 on 4 off).
- 4 additional flexible shift holidays.
- Additional payments when working on a Bank Holidays that falls within the shift pattern.
- Up to 7.5 hours pay for volunteering locally for a good cause on days off.
