We are currently recruiting for a Senior Power Systems Engineer to help strengthen our power system analysis team. This role is based in Bristol.
Candidates should have a master's in electrical engineering, or a related field, and have a good understanding of electrical engineering theory and power systems analysis. The candidate should be confident in liaising with clients, managing project delivery and supporting junior staff members.
The ideal candidate should have 5+ years' experience gained within a consultancy, ICP, DNO, or similar environment and at least 4 years' experience in power system studies and simulation, or have a related background in power system protection. Candidates are expected to be working toward, or have already achieved, chartered engineer status (CEng).
This role is specialist in nature and will cover a wide range of studies. Candidates are expected to be fully familiar with loadflow analysis, short circuit studies, harmonics (G5.5 Stage 3), voltage disturbance (P28) and Generator G99 studies. Candidates are expected to be familiar with a power system analysis package such as DIgSILENT, ETAP, IPSA, SKM, PSS/E or similar. Knowledge and experience with PSCAD would be a distinct advantage. Candidates should be present in the UK, and should be able to work in the UK without requiring visa sponsorship. Applications from more experienced engineers are also welcome; however, this is a senior level role.
Essential Characteristics
- MSc, MEng or equivalent.
- 5+ years' experience in electrical engineering design or analysis.
- Knowledge of DIgSILENT, PSS/E, ETAP, IPSA or similar.
- Experience of loadflow, short circuit, arc flash, voltage disturbance harmonics, G99 and stability studies.
- Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng).
- Confident in dealing with clients and supporting junior team members.
Desirable Characteristics
- Knowledge of EMT analysis in PSCAD (or similar).
- Knowledge of protection and control systems.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng).
