We are hiring a Senior Process Engineer within the Nuclear Industry. This can be based in Warrington or Cumbria and worked on a hybrid basis (three days in the office per week). Security Clearance will be required. Candidates should be British Citizens and not have worked outside the UK during the past 5 years.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regular reporting on process team progress to Project Management, as well as Client Responsible Process Engineer and Engineering Manager.
- Working closely with a multi-discipline design team, including other engineering disciplines as well as non-engineering and non-design functions (Project Management, Programme Delivery, Technical Support Safety Assessors, Plant-Side Engineering, Plant Operations, Commissioning etc.).
- Presentation of design at regular assurance reviews with process design intelligent customer, as well as at technical committee, management safety committee and others where required.
- Delivery of standard process design deliverables (EFDs, Process Description, line sizing calcs, pump design/assessments, control philosophy, etc.) and updating existing associated documentation. Includes both production and checking.
- General support (document production & checking) to projects across SPrO portfolio as required.
- Development of radiological, environmental and non-nuclear safety cases for relevant hazards. Working in a highly regulated environment with an emphasis on nuclear safety.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
- Good communication skills and ability to work with other team members / disciplines.
- Competent report writing skills: clearly and concisely reporting findings.
- Comfortable working under time and cost constraints.
- Demonstrable experience in production and checking of standard process engineering deliverables (e.g. EFDs, pump design / sizing, Process Description, Basis of Design, line sizing etc.).
- Design of large scale fluid handling systems.
- Safety assessment techniques (e.g. HAZOP).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer with IChemE.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Working with and adherence to Sellafield processes and procedures, in particular checking and approval procedures.
- Nuclear safety case development and provision of nuclear substantiation in SL project space.
- Wider demonstration of broader process engineering knowledge / experience on wider systems - e.g. compressed air distribution systems, water supply distribution systems.
- Past experience of cooling tower design.
- Handling of legionella hazards.
