Morson Talent currently have an exciting new position for MRP Planner to join our prestigious Aerospace client based in Semley, Shaftesbury. This is initially a 6 month contract.
1. Job Purpose
The MRP Planner supports material planning, scheduling, and inventory control activities to ensure production and engineering teams receive the materials they need on time. The role provides hands on experience with MRP systems, demand analysis, stock management, and supplier coordination. Working under the guidance of experienced planners, the post holder contributes to maintaining accurate planning data, preventing shortages, and supporting efficient production flow.
2. Key Responsibilities
2.1 MRP Support & Material Planning
- Assist with maintaining accurate data within the MRP/ERP system.
- Support the creation and updating of purchase and works orders.
- Monitor material availability and highlight potential shortages to senior planners.
- Help ensure planning parameters such as lead times and stock levels are kept up to date.
- Support the review of BOMs and planning data for accuracy.
2.2 Inventory & Demand Analysis
- Assist with monitoring stock levels and identifying items requiring replenishment.
- Support basic analysis of demand trends and consumption rates.
- Help maintain accurate stock records and support stock taking activities.
- Report discrepancies or unusual stock movements to senior planners.
- Contribute to inventory housekeeping and data cleaning tasks.
2.3 Supplier & Order Coordination
- Support communication with suppliers regarding delivery dates and order status.
- Help track open orders and follow up on overdue items.
- Assist with updating order records and supplier information in the system.
- Escalate supplier issues such as delays or shortages to senior planners.
- Support the preparation of documentation for procurement activities.
2.4 Production Support & Cross Functional Collaboration
- Provide material status updates to production and engineering teams under supervision.
- Assist with resolving basic material related issues impacting production.
- Support engineering change processes by updating planning data as instructed.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute junior level insights.
- Work collaboratively with warehouse, procurement, and quality teams.
2.5 Continuous Improvement & Governance
- Follow internal planning procedures and support compliance with audit requirements.
- Assist with improving data accuracy and planning processes.
- Maintain documentation and support configuration control of planning information.
- Contribute ideas to improve material flow and planning efficiency.
- Support senior planners with administrative and analytical tasks.
3. Knowledge, Skills & Experience
3.1 Essential
- Basic understanding of supply chain, materials planning, or production processes (academic or practical).
- Ability to work with data, spreadsheets, and planning tools.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn new systems quickly.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
3.2 Desirable
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, IFS, Epicor).
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or logistics environment.
- Understanding of BOMs, stock control, or production scheduling.
- Familiarity with lean principles or continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with Excel or data analysis tools.
4. Security Clearance
This role may be subject to UK Security Clearance requirements (BPSS, SC, or higher). The post holder must be eligible and able to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance.
