Morson Edge are working with a leading engineering and infrastructure consultancy to recruit Building Surveyors to carry out residential property surveys across Salisbury and Dorset.
This is a site-based opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor or property professional with strong knowledge of building fabric, typical defects and practical repair methods. You will be responsible for inspecting residential properties, documenting defects and producing clear survey information to support estate strategies, capital planning and statutory compliance.
The Opportunity
As a Building Surveyor, you will carry out inspections and condition surveys of residential properties across the Salisbury and Dorset areas.
You will assess the condition of properties, identify defects and document your findings using photographs, measurements and clear remedial notes.
The role will also involve maintaining accurate survey data and asset registers, as well as undertaking Domestic Energy Assessments (EPCs).
You will be working across occupied properties and live sites, so an organised, professional and safety-conscious approach is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out site inspections and condition surveys of residential properties.
- Identify and document building defects.
- Record defects using photographs and accurate site measurements.
- Provide clear remedial notes and recommendations.
- Undertake Domestic Energy Assessments and EPCs.
- Maintain accurate survey data and asset registers.
- Support capital planning and statutory compliance tracking.
- Interpret drawings and existing building information.
- Apply knowledge of building fabric, typical defects and practical repair methods.
- Produce clear and concise survey reports.
- Work safely and professionally when visiting occupied buildings and live sites.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Domestic Energy Assessor qualification.
- Previous experience carrying out building or property condition surveys.
- Good knowledge of building fabric and typical defects.
- Understanding of practical repair methods.
- Competence in site measurement.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Ability to interpret drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Organised and safety-aware approach.
- Building Surveying degree or equivalent qualification is desirable.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Successful applicants will be required to:
- Complete BPSS clearance.
- Pass a DBS check.
- Complete the required screening and vetting checks.
- Provide the necessary Right to Work documentation.
