About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Design Engineering Services Engineer to join a well-established automotive engineering team based in Cranfield on a 12-month contract. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a professional with experience in automotive OEM or supplier environments to contribute across the full lifecycle of genuine vehicle accessories, from design and development through to fitment, technical evaluation, and delivery. The successful candidate will operate within a collaborative, cross-functional engineering setting, demonstrating initiative while adhering to established engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of genuine automotive accessories across multiple disciplines, including Electrical, Mechanical, and Trim.
- Verify the fitment and application of accessories to vehicles.
- Ensure accessory development aligns with agreed technical specifications, budget, and timelines.
- Contribute to the adoption of accessories for Special Versions (SV) vehicles.
- Provide assistance with market and quality enquiries as required.
- Participate in and successfully complete design reviews at various development stages.
- Deliver accessories on schedule, meeting key project milestones.
- Collaborate effectively with technical and cross-functional teams.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and work independently while maintaining compliance with engineering standards.
About You
- To be considered for this role, you will ideally possess a Bachelor's Honours Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years' experience within an automotive OEM and/or relevant supplier environment.
- Proven experience in automotive engineering or product development.
- Strong CAD proficiency, preferably with NX software.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A collaborative, cross-functional approach and strong team-working abilities.
- The ability to work independently and effectively manage your workload.
- A full, valid UK driving licence.
