About the role

Are you a hands-on Technician with experience of inspecting, maintaining or repairing physical equipment? We are looking for a Respiratory Equipment Inspector to join a new team supporting our customer at their site in the Devonport area. You do not need previous experience working with respiratory equipment - full training will be provided. We are particularly interested in candidates with a practical, technical background who enjoy working with equipment and solving problems. This could be an excellent opportunity for experienced Engineers, Technicians, ex-Service personnel or Firefighters, as well as candidates from other hands-on technical backgrounds. The position is initially offered on a temp-to-perm basis, with the opportunity to move into a permanent role.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out monthly COSHH inspections, annual manufacturer servicing and repairs to respiratory equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment including Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR/SCBA), Full Face Mask Respirators and Half Mask Respirators.
  • Complete and maintain accurate COSHH records and documentation.
  • Update and maintain the asset tracking system.
  • Manage workshop stock, spare parts and equipment required for monthly testing and maintenance.
  • Ensure equipment is inspected, maintained and repaired to the required standards.
  • Provide additional support to the wider team across the Plymouth area when required.
  • Work closely with customers, providing a professional and helpful service at all times.

About you

We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable and comfortable working with physical equipment. Previous respiratory equipment experience is beneficial but not essential, as full role-specific training will be provided. Ideally, you will have:

  • Practical experience working with equipment, machinery or technical systems.
  • Experience of inspection, maintenance, repair or fault finding.
  • Good manual handling skills.
  • Strong customer-facing and communication skills, including a professional telephone manner.
  • Good IT and data-entry skills, with the ability to accurately maintain records and asset information.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • The ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
  • A methodical approach with strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to join a new team working on an important customer site in the Devonport area. You will receive the training required to become competent in the inspection, servicing and repair of specialist respiratory equipment, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their technical skills within a specialist environment.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of the work and the customer site, candidates will need to be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC). Candidates who already hold current SC clearance are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates with existing BPSS clearance may also be considered, subject to the required clearance process.
