Purpose of the Role
To support and lead Discipline Design Teams in the competent implementation of project brief requirements, ensuring high-quality BIM delivery for MEP design projects. The Senior BIM MEP Technician will provide technical leadership, coordinate multidisciplinary information, and contribute to project, team, and business development.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Core Responsibilities
- Fully implement and/or support the implementation of the Company's Health & Safety policies, Quality Management System, Business Plans and strategic initiatives.
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks assigned by Directors or the Line Manager.
- Project Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively as a key member of the project team, completing allocated tasks such as preparation of design documents including drawings, schedules, and calculations.
- Production of technically robust 3D MEP design solutions in Autodesk Revit, from draft or partially developed information.
- Ensure all outputs are checked, reviewed, and approved by an appropriately qualified team member prior to issue.
- Take a proactive role in project workload programming.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of fee forecasts.
- Support the Discipline Leader in design and production tasks as required.
- Attend meetings, prepare and issue minutes where necessary.
- Lead the coordination of constructional and MEP design elements, including integration with other disciplines, consultants, suppliers, and specialists.
- Manage full project responsibilities including oversight of all discipline inputs, administration of project processes and procedures, and ensuring successful delivery of the client brief.
- Agree scope of services and fees with the Employer and identify potential fee variations for review with the Line Manager or Director.
- Coordinate the preparation of stage programmes for the design process.
- Management Responsibilities
- Use best endeavours to ensure discipline projects are profitable without compromising client objectives.
- Raise concerns promptly with the Project Director.
- Actively maintain accurate and up-to-date project fee forecasts.
- Contribute to discipline team workload programming for monthly Board meetings.
- Maintain a professional and positive Company profile in dealings with internal teams, external clients, and industry contacts.
- Support the Director of QA in maintaining and improving quality systems.
- Assist Directors in developing and maximising the value of the NewForma system.
- Monitor team members' timesheets to ensure accurate and compliant recording of project time and flexible working.
- Business Development
- Promote the Company to external organisations and individuals aligned with the Company's Business Plan priorities.
- Contribute to Business Development (BD) and marketing activities within the Discipline Team BD strategy.
- Discipline Development
- Assist in leading the discipline team by implementing strategic direction and providing support to colleagues.
- Foster a culture of learning, creativity, and innovative problem-solving.
- Support the team in improving digital maturity, including exploring and adopting emerging technologies.
- Help build an enjoyable and motivating work environment that supports individual development and enhances team capability.
- Mentor and coach team members to strengthen creativity, technical ability, and BIM expertise.

- Able to prepare and deliver professional presentations.
