Summary
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to support the Pre-Construction Lead and Senior Design Manager in delivering tender stage responsibilities and managing design coordination throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will review project information, including Employer's Requirements, Contractor's Proposals, and Design Team appointments, to ensure all parties understand their contractual obligations.
Key duties include:
- Agreeing specialist subcontractor procurement strategies with the site team
- Producing and monitoring the Project Stage Design Programme and associated deliverables
- Managing the Common Data Environment (CDE) including file structures, workflows, and security rights
- Chairing design coordination workshops
- Producing project-specific Design Management Plans (DMP) and BIM Execution Plans (BEP)
- Ensuring compliance with these documents
- Verifying that all design documentation is compliant, coordinated, affordable, and buildable
- Managing the submission and approval of design data
- Assisting in the commercial and technical review of specialist subcontractor tenders
- Progressing the discharge of Planning Conditions and Building Regulation approvals
- Managing post-contract change control
- Ensuring Design Risk Assessments are produced and approved
- Monitoring design quality against KPIs
- Reviewing and approving Applications for Payment
- Obtaining design reports for monthly cost valuation reports
- Ensuring all design changes are incorporated into As-Built documentation
- Close collaboration with Document Controllers to archive final issue documentation and produce lessons learnt papers
