Morson are currently recruiting for a Project Leader with an aerospace/defence/nuclear engineering background for our defence client in Barrow-in-Furness. The Project Leader will provide a planning, mobilisation and integration capability. The role is being offered on an initial 6 month contract, with the possibility of an extension or permanent conversion. There is a minimum expectation of 2 days/fortnight on site in Barrow-in-Furness and the rate is £47 per hour PAYE or £63.40 per hour Umbrella inside IR35.

Responsibilities

  • Perform non-complex project reporting and scheduling, providing regular updates on work stream progress, milestones, opportunities and potential issues.
  • Administration and general office skills including spreadsheets/ Microsoft packages.
  • Implementing Project Control methodologies.
  • Engaging with stakeholders such as finance, engineering, supply chain, customers, quality, assurance and safety teams.
  • Monitor, track and report on progress and performance, in relation to budget.
  • Provide guidance on Project Management issues and propose solutions using established APM principles.
  • Support the creation of all PM deliverables (CAM packs, technical reviews, DSUM's and others as required).
  • Identify, assess and manage risks to the success of the project.

Requirements

  • Project management experience within the engineering industry.
  • Experience working on high-level engineering projects such as Defence, Aerospace, Automotive or Nuclear.
  • Experience of planning, reporting, managing risk and deploying dependencies.
  • Communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of PM governance and assurance processes such as Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBRs).
  • Project planning experience that includes scope, timeline, budget and resource allocation.

Knowledge and Skills

  • PM skillset (scope, estimating, planning, project control, risk / opp etc).
  • Stakeholder management (particularly cross-functional).
  • Ability to collate and assess large volumes of data and translate to tangible actions or deliverables.

Qualifications

  • APM PMQ or working towards it.
  • Desirable: APM Chartered Professional or Degree in Project Management.
  • Awareness of the SSNA UK Programme of record, AUKUS contract or US interactions.
  • Application of continuous improvement principles and/or process development.
  • Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance.
