Quality Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to be responsible for the administration and review of all quality-related issues within an Integrated Project Team (IPT). The role will ensure that quality is maintained through adherence to customer and regulatory authority requirements, control of manufacturing processes, and the effective use of problem-solving and improvement tools.

You will support the development and deployment of the Quality Policy and Strategy, execute key project quality activities, manage supplier quality interfaces, and ensure quality issues are effectively reported and managed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and develop manufacturing processes to ensure they remain within control limits and achieve product quality requirements.
  • Manage critical quality processes including Quality Management Review, First Article Inspection/Verification (FAI/V), Concession and Non-Conformance Analysis, and archiving activities.
  • Review and maintain the project Quality Management System (QMS) and assist in the development, deployment, and maintenance of project procedures.
  • Support the implementation of the Quality Policy and Strategy within the project and supporting processes.
  • Monitor and report project quality performance, establish improvement targets, analyse data, and implement effective solutions.
  • Support ongoing compliance with company, customer, and regulatory authority quality requirements through product audits and other quality assurance activities.
  • Design and deliver quality training to project staff and quality engineers.
  • Manage and support supplier quality activities, ensuring that quality issues, occurrences, concessions, and non-conformances are managed to agreed timescales.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers and suppliers on quality issues, defect investigations, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Support project quality review activities and drive root cause corrective actions and proactive quality improvements through Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Manage the Material Review Board (MRB) process, ensuring timely disposition of items and effective management of corrective actions.
  • Support the Quality Rapid Response Quality Control (QRQC) process in relation to MRB activities.
  • Ensure inspection planning, Last Article Inspection (LAI), First Article Inspection/Verification (FAI/V), and delegated source inspection programmes are maintained.
  • Act as the quality focal point for customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities as required.
  • Support performance reviews, training, and development activities for Quality Engineering staff.
  • Provide leadership support in the absence of the Quality and Engineering Team Leader.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Preferably qualified to HNC level in a related Quality or Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant engineering experience within a Quality Engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of AS9100, regulatory authority approvals, and certification requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with customers and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of engineering systems and the deployment of quality tools and methodologies.
  • Awareness of engineering drawings and systems used by major customers such as Boeing and Airbus.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
