We have an exciting opportunity to work for BAE Systems at their Samlesbury site as a Procurement Engineer, the role is working in the DLF & Service Provision Value Team. You will be responsible for one or more suppliers, actively managing and driving strategic “Value” related sourcing activities for your area of responsibility. You will be undertaking analysis of supplier pricing to ensure value for money, driving cost reductions and leading affordability campaigns, ensuring effective supplier risk management and supply chain resilience. You will be an integral stakeholder in enabling supplier performance through effective sourcing and supplier relationship management providing support to Life Cycle Management and associated Governance activities all whilst managing your various internal stakeholders. The role will involve managing 2 busy contracts and you will be involved in the early part of the procurement lifecycle.
Typical duties will include:
- Support all sourcing and strategic activity for the defined Suppliers negotiating pricing and contracting terms and conditions as applicable
- Work cross-functionally as a member of the team, as well as interfacing across the Air business and with other teams and functions, e.g. PM, Engineering, Commercial, Finance.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the product or service provision meets the governance requirements of the business and our customers and delivers optimum value for money.
- Manage supplier relationships and be the primary interface for commercial and contractual issues
- Support Senior Business Reviews with Suppliers and Customers
- Managing terms and conditions
- Manage Supplier risk and drive supply chain resilience
- There will be regular travel to suppliers as and when required.
Knowledge required:
- A continuous Improvement mind-set with proven examples of identifying new ideas that drive improvement, problem solving and working collaboratively with others to identify a solution ideally within a Procurement (or similar) environment
- Detailed understanding and experience of supplier risk and opportunity management
- Working understanding of tool sets and IT such as ERP systems, Microsoft Office programs particularly in Excel.
- Previous experience of managing strategic Supplier relationships and complex development contracts would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will have excellent collaboration and communication skills, fostering close & trusting relationships with a network of demanding internal and external stakeholders. You will be a skilled negotiator with experience of price and contractual terms and conditions negotiations. You will also have the ability to compile data, analyse and propose recommendations through reports and presentations. Ideally you will have, or be working towards MCIPS OR have a similar professional qualification or hold a degree in a STEM or a business related subject (e.g. Economics, Business, Finance) or equivalent.
