Ships Service Technician Roles for our client working at the Portsmouth shipyard - HMS Duncan (Care & Protection)
Location: Portsmouth Naval Base
Start Date: August onwards
Contract: Initial 3-month contract with potential extension based on performance
Clearance Required: BPSS (SC clearance in progress acceptable)
Role Overview
Our client is seeking experienced Ships Service Technicians to support work on HMS Duncan within a care and protection environment. Candidates with a strong marine or naval engineering background are highly desirable, although applications from Weapon Engineers or safety-focused engineers will also be considered. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile defence programme with potential for contract extension following the initial term.
Essential:
- Engineering background within marine, naval, defence, or heavy industrial environments
- Strong safety awareness and understanding of engineering best practices
- Ability to work effectively within a structured team environment
- Eligible for BPSS clearance with SC clearance in progress
Desirable:
- Marine engineering background
- Previous Royal Navy or defence sector experience
- Weapon Engineering experience
- Electrical experience
Training & Development:
Initial 3-week training programme provided
Working Hours:
Standard 37-hour working week:
- Monday – Thursday: 8-hour shifts
- Friday: 5-hour shift
Candidates must complete 5 x 12-hour shifts per month. Shifts may be: 7:00am – 7:00pm or 7:00pm – 7:00am
