Morson are currently recruiting for a Materials Provision Co-ordinator to work for our maritime defence client based in Portsmouth. This role will co-ordinate and work collaboratively with stores and production planners.

Purpose of the Role

To take responsibility for ensuring that all materials and tooling for Service Orders and Operations at the work enablement phase are identified, kitted and available to allow work to be passed to production. This role will co-ordinate and work collaboratively with logistics and supply chain teams, to a daily drum beat, to be accountable that work is prepared and ready in sufficient time for the current scheduled start date and priority defined by the Work Management Tool.

Duties

  • Be responsible for enablement checks to ensure right materials and tooling is assigned to work orders and operations to allow first time execution of work.
  • Be accountable for the prompt resolution of material and tooling issues through use of the Work Management Tool and associated processes.
  • Be responsible for kitting materials to Service orders in the lay apart areas so materials are in hand and accountable for ensuring the delivery of Service Orders and Operations materials to the receipt and dispatch area of the project.
  • Accountable for working collaboratively with Supply Chain and the Asset management team to assist in the provision of MSM and responsible for arranging collection from the ship and MOD stores and for kitting MSM as part of the work enablement process.
  • Be responsible and accountable for maintaining and monitoring both the consumable containers and lineside feeds.
  • Work collaboratively with the Production Planners and supply chain team by completing material usage reviews and ensuring the relevant follow up actions are actioned by ensuring Planning task lists are updated in conjunction with Production Planners.
  • Work collaboratively with other stakeholders such as logistics to improve the material provision and recommend adjustments to the Min/Max stock levels accordingly.
  • Be accountable and responsible for reporting and proactively taking issues and problems with materials/tooling and apply fundamental problem-solving skills to resolve issues that arise through the enablement and execution of work.
  • Work collaboratively with the Production planning team to ensure the parts data held in the ERP system is as accurate as possible.
  • Responsible for feeding back material delivery forecast changes or discrepancies into the ERP system.
  • Assist in the Training where applicable for new starters/Apprentices.
  • Ensure all tooling is within calibration if applicable prior to passing to production.

Knowledge

  • Maintain a close relationship with the Production Planners to ensure that we continuously improve and ensure we have the correct material identified on our task lists.
  • Keep up to date with document control, including ITAR.
  • Ensure pre-requisites are advanced to Green, to allow production to deliver, in accordance with schedule.
  • Have a good knowledge of Warship business.
  • Ensure no Lifex materials are released to Production.
  • Coordinate all material requirements irrespective whether they are MSM or CSM.
  • No substantial leadership requirement.
  • Hold comprehensive understanding and knowledge of ship repair production processes, methods and safe practices within one or more trade disciplines.
  • Be able to find and extract material components from customer requirements and liaise with customer where necessary to resolve technical issues.
  • Be PC literate and competent with Microsoft Excel/Access and able to use an ERP system without supervision.
  • Be able to self-manage to identify and deliver tasks within acceptable time.

Skills

  • To be able to find and extract material components from customer requirements.
  • Hold a logical, analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
  • Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance.

Duration: 10 months - possible extension

Rate: PAYE £17.55 plus holiday pay £2.55 per hour or Umbrella rate £23.43 per hour
