Morson Edge is currently recruiting Slingers to work on-site in Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth. Working safely in a maritime environment, you will be required to inspect lifting equipment to ensure its fit for use, use chain blocks and apply fleeting techniques. You will need to be competent in the general use of lifting equipment and tools related to the role, such as the use of fixed gantry (overhead traveller) cranes, spreader bars, plate clamps and chain blocks.
Experience required in the following areas:
- Heavy complex lifting operations.
- Ability to read and interpret lifting instructions.
- Ideally will have worked in the marine industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships, although other relevant experience will be considered.
Qualifications & Requirements
You must hold a valid slinging qualification, such as:
- CPCS A40 Blue
- NPORS 402
- NVQ2 Moving of Loads
- OPITO
Pay Rates
PAYE - £17.78 per hour + Radius Allowance
Umbrella - £23.65 per hour + Radius Allowance
Work Arrangements
35 standard hours a week, Mon-Thu - 07:30 - 15:30, Fri - 07:30 - 12:30. Shift and overtime are a possibility, but not guaranteed. 12-month initial contract. The successful candidate will need to obtain full SC security clearance for this role.
