Morson Edge are recruiting for an Industrial sewing machinist/Trainee Sail Maker to join their client's team in Devonport, Plymouth. This is a hands-on role within a safety-critical, industrial environment, with full training provided and the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications.
Main Duties
- Manufacture and fit radiological containment materials
- Produce protective weather screens and covers
- Manufacture soft furnishings and fabric-based products
- Produce gaskets using materials such as rubber, Sentinel and Thermiculite
- Work as part of a team and support day-to-day operations
- Assist with problem solving on tasks as required
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times
Requirements
- Willingness to work in a safety-critical environment, including occasional work in radiological areas
- Flexible approach to shift work and overtime
- Good team working and communication skills
- A practical mindset and willingness to learn
- Experience with textiles or fabrics would be beneficial but not essential
Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Additional Information
- £19.36 per hour (PAYE), 35 std hours a week, Shift work and overtime will be a requirement for this role
- 6 month initial contract
- Training provided, with progression linked to NVQ Level 2 and 3
- Opportunity to gain experience in a specialist manufacturing environment
- Security Clearance: Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain clearance
