Payroll Administrator (FTC) – Payroll Benefits in Kind Implementation
Location: Solihull, Hybrid
Job Type: 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Salary: Β£30,000 – Β£35,000
About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Payroll Administrator to join a major Payroll Benefits in Kind (PBIK) implementation project within an established Payroll Services team.
Working closely with the Payroll Manager leading the implementation, you'll play a key role in getting the new PBIK solution ready for launch, supporting requirements gathering, data validation, testing and business readiness.
This is a great opportunity for a payroll professional who wants to move beyond day-to-day processing and gain hands-on experience across a major payroll systems implementation.
The Role
You'll provide hands-on project support throughout the PBIK implementation, working across Payroll, HR, Reward and IT to help ensure the new solution is tested, accurate and ready for deployment.
A big part of the role will be supporting SIT, parallel runs and UAT, validating payroll calculations and outputs, tracking defects and helping resolve issues through to completion.
You'll also support project documentation, reporting, training and the eventual transition into BAU payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Payroll Manager throughout the PBIK implementation.
Assist with requirements gathering workshops and stakeholder meetings.
Document requirements, actions, decisions and process changes.
Support payroll data validation, reconciliations and analysis.
Assist with SIT, parallel runs and UAT preparation and execution.
Validate payroll calculations, outputs and test results.
Record, track and help resolve testing defects.
Support project reporting, governance and documentation.
Assist with training, communications and business readiness.
Work closely with Payroll, HR, Reward and IT stakeholders.
Support the transition from project delivery into BAU payroll operations.
Identify opportunities to improve processes throughout the implementation.
About You
We're looking for a payroll professional who is organised, analytical and keen to get involved in a project environment.
You'll have a good understanding of UK payroll and be comfortable working with data, Excel and detailed processes. You don't need to have led a payroll implementation before, but experience supporting payroll projects or system changes would be a strong advantage.
You'll need to be confident working with different stakeholders, managing competing priorities and getting into the detail when testing and validating payroll outputs.
You will ideally have:
Previous payroll administration experience.
Good understanding of UK payroll legislation and processes.
Strong Excel skills.
Experience with payroll data, reconciliations and validation.
Experience supporting a payroll project, system implementation or process change.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
SAP ECC Payroll experience would be advantageous.
CIPP qualification or currently working towards one would be desirable.
What's on Offer?
6-month FTC paying Β£30,000 – Β£35,000.
Hybrid working from Solihull.
Opportunity to work on a major PBIK implementation.
Hands-on exposure to SAP ECC Payroll and payroll systems change.
Gain valuable experience across SIT, parallel runs and UAT.
Opportunity to work closely with Payroll, HR, Reward and IT.
Varied project role with exposure well beyond standard payroll administration.
