Our client Scottish Power are currently recruiting for a Communications Manager to join their team based in Glasgow on a contract basis initially. Ideally for this role they are looking for an experienced Communications professional with a relevant background.
What you'll be doing:
- Strategic Communications Leadership: Develop and deliver a clear multi-faceted integrated Communications Strategy aligned to business priorities, stakeholder needs and regulatory commitments.
- Channel Management: Create and implement the successful internal and external channel strategy for the RIIO ED3 Programme mapped to the needs of all audiences.
- Campaign Delivery: Lead the planning and execution of integrated campaigns across digital, media, stakeholder, and internal channels.
- Content Creation: Produce and manage engaging multimedia content (e.g., newsletters, videos, podcasts, blogs, infographics) for a diverse range of targeted internal and external audiences.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external agencies to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and analyse digital engagement metrics, using insights to refine strategies and improve outcomes.
- Crisis Communications: Support the SPEN Marketing and Communications Manager as key member of the incident communications response team—ensuring employees receive accurate and timely updates.
- Innovation & Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in communications tools, platforms, and processes to enhance user experience and communication effectiveness.
What you'll bring:
- A degree in communications, or a related discipline.
- Strategic thinking and business acumen – proven ability to translate organisational strategy into clear communications plans.
- Strong understanding and awareness of how regulated businesses operate – customers, engineering teams, operations safety and risk and awareness of operational pressures i.e. weather events, outages, safety incidents.
- Experience in people management and collaborative working to achieve success.
- Understanding of people, motivation, engagement, and culture-shaping communication.
- Proven strong ability to run multiple campaigns, programmes, and deadlines concurrently with strong prioritisation and structured planning skills.
- Thinks long term and connects day to day communication with business performance.
- Anticipates risks, opportunities and stakeholder impacts before they arise.
- Expertise in people and cultural change - Understands human behaviour and how people react to change.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills and editorial judgement.
- Experience working with creative agencies and managing external suppliers.
- Strong relationship builder and calm, credible trusted advisor – confidence working with and influencing senior stakeholders and providing constructive feedback and strategic communications advice to guide people toward better communication choices.
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
- Strong crisis and incident comms capability.
- Proven experience in internal comms strategy development – with expertise in change communications, coaching leaders, channel and content management.
- An eye for design and detail with strong writing and content creation skills across multimedia formats.
- Demonstrable experience delivering successful integrated change campaigns and using analytics to measure success.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools (e.g, CMS, intranet, Viva Engage).
