We are looking for an experienced and qualified Mechanical Engineer/ Fitter to join our Nottingham based team, supporting wastewater treatment projects nationwide. This is a hands-on, site-based role where you'll work across sewage and wastewater treatment sites throughout the UK, installing, commissioning and maintaining specialist water filtration and mechanical systems. The role involves regular working away from home, including overnight stays, along with occasional work within workshops across the UK. If you enjoy practical engineering work, on-site problem solving and travelling as part of a close-knit engineering team, this role offers genuine variety and long-term career potential.
What You'll Be Doing
- Installing, commissioning, setting up and testing water filtration and mechanical systems on wastewater and sewage treatment sites
- Carrying out site inspections, fault finding and surveys to support quotation and project planning
- Accessing and interpreting technical instructions using mobile electronic devices
- Working at height, in confined spaces and outdoors on live wastewater sites
- Working away from home regularly, including overnight stays
- Supporting work within workshops across the UK when required
- Working collaboratively with engineers, technicians and other trades across the business
- Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and regulatory compliance at all times
About You
- You'll be an experienced Mechanical Engineer who brings:
- A current, valid UK driving licence
- City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent)
- Completion of a recognised mechanical apprenticeship
- Experience working in industrial, utilities or heavy engineering environments
- Willingness to work outdoors, at height and in confined spaces
- A flexible approach to working away from home
- NVQ level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
- Water or Industrial background
- Mechanical bias, but someone with some electrical knowledge is also very useful (JIB gold card would be fantastic, but isn't a deal breaker)
