Morson are recruiting for Skilled Fitters to work in Bristol for our prestigious client, at their site in Western Approach. Roles are also 6 months ongoing with possible temp to perm opportunity after 6 months.
PROFILE
As a Skilled Composite Aircraft Fitter, you will be involved in working on a range of aircraft main wing assemblies and sub-assemblies from detail parts, whilst embracing appropriate assembly techniques, tools and fixtures, in accordance with the appropriate technical data and competencies. Assemble composite and metallic aircraft components in line with design and engineering requirements.
KEY DELIVERABLES
- Assemble and trim composite and metallic aircraft components
- Drilling/Reaming/Countersinking of composite and metallic components
- Set aircraft components in calibrated build jigs
- Deburring and under head radius of aircraft components and assemblies
- Fettling using approved and calibrated setting tools
- Use of nut runners and pre-set torque guns for bolting
- Participate fully in local continuous improvement activities
- Work in line with Health & Safety site requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Apprenticeship or NVQ3 or City and Guilds Level 3
- Minimum 3 years' relevant trade experience assembling aircraft components using drawings and processes
- If CV accepted will need to attend a Trade Test on site involving drilling, riveting and countersinking working with Composite
KEY SKILLS
- Ability to assemble and trim composite and ancillary materials to close tolerances
- Good hand skills and co-ordination
- Understand aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems
- Ability to operate CNC machines and processes as required
- Self-motivated team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both alone and in small teams
- Ability and willingness to undertake training and understanding of composite manufacturing techniques and processes
- To take responsibility to “self-certify” own work
- Working knowledge of IT systems including SAP and Microsoft packages
SHIFT PATTERN
- Averaged 37.5 per week
- 12/6.5 - Day Shift
- Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, 6am-6pm; Sunday 6am–12noon
- Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday 6am-6pm
RATE PAYE
- £23.04 once on shift (£18.43 PAYE on days whilst training, approx. 2 weeks) - Once stamp obtained (about 3 months) the rate goes up to £24.06
- £27.65 overtime in the week
- £36.86 overtime weekends
