An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a leading organisation within the UK defence and vehicle systems sector. This role offers exposure to complex, cutting-edge engineering programmes, long-term career progression, and flexible hybrid working.

The Role

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be involved in the design, development and integration of electrical systems and equipment at both system and sub-system level. You'll work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, technical leads, suppliers, and customers to deliver high-quality engineering solutions to demanding cost, quality and schedule requirements. This is a varied and technically engaging role, working across a wide range of vehicle platforms and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce electrical drawings, schematics, design specifications and technical documentation
  • Support system validation, testing and integration activities
  • Assist with customer submissions and task estimates
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure compliance with technical and quality requirements
  • Apply up-to-date engineering knowledge to ongoing projects
  • Ensure designs meet requirements for safety, EMC, reliability, manufacturability and cost
  • Plan and manage own workload to meet project timescales and budgets
  • Perform self-checking and peer reviews to ensure quality and completeness

What We're Looking For

  • Degree / HND (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience using 3D design tools (ideally CREO or NX)
  • Knowledge of engineering drawing standards (e.g. BS8888, GD&T)
  • Experience designing electrical components and systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Confident working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Experience within defence or other highly regulated industries is desirable

Desirable experience:

  • Knowledge of military electrical standards (e.g. Def Stan 61-5, Def Stan 59-411)
  • Experience with E3 electrical design tools
