An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UKs leading engineering and infrastructure businesses, delivering a major long-term capital investment programme within the UK water sector.

The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take ownership of the commercial management of projects from inception through to final account, ensuring commercial performance, contractual compliance and effective risk management throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with operational, engineering and client teams, you'll play a key role in protecting commercial interests whilst supporting the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Managing all commercial activities across allocated projects.
- Preparing and agreeing applications for payment.
- Administering contracts and managing contractual correspondence.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
- Maintaining variation, compensation event, claims and programme registers.
- Producing monthly cost reports, forecasts and commercial reporting.
- Managing subcontract procurement, negotiations and contract administration.
- Supporting change management and cost control throughout project delivery.
- Working collaboratively with client, operational and supply chain teams.
- Providing commercial and contractual advice to project teams.
- Ensuring compliance with company commercial processes and governance.
About You
We're looking for commercially driven professionals who can demonstrate:
- Significant post-graduate Quantity Surveying experience within construction or infrastructure.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Excellent knowledge of NEC and/or other standard forms of contract.
- Experience managing applications for payment, valuations, variations and commercial reporting.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain contracts.
- The confidence to work independently while supporting and mentoring junior team members.
Desirable
- Previous experience within the water, utilities or wider civil engineering sectors.
- Experience developing procurement or commercial strategies.
- Chartered status (MRICS/MCICES) or working towards professional membership.
