Our client is a leading engineering consultancy who are looking for a Civil / Structural Engineer to join their energy business.
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for the delivery of allocated technical work elements and design activities for preparation of outline & detailed design drawings and associated other Construction-Ready documentation, all in accordance with the Company's quality, safety and project management/engineering procedures and controls.
- Preparation of clear and well-structured design calculations, reports, drawings and other deliverables as well as checking or vetting all designs before issue.
- You will be technically innovative in solution of project demands.
- You will be able to communicate at all levels including design management, team leadership/mentoring, client relationship skills and brief junior/technical team members as the team grows.
- Liaison with the Client, contractors, the supply chain and other project stakeholders.
- Compliance with relevant H & S regulations and to follow company procedures.
- Communication with Project Design leads, discipline leads and Arcadis Global Design Centres.
- Proactively deliver technical solutions as guided by your Senior and Principal Engineers.
- You will also have the opportunity to grow your technical appreciation of other key disciplines (Substation electrical equipment, overhead lines and cables etc.).
- Be financially aware of your own impact on project budget and timescales and inputs to the formulation of technical proposals and their presentation to potential Clients.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or similar discipline.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of applicable British Standards, UK Industry Codes of Practice and Energy company specifications would be an advantage.
- An appreciation of / exposure to detailed design or construction within the UK Energy sector would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams, preferably in the Energy sector.
- Well-developed outline, feasibility, and detailed design skills.
- A good level of experience working within a civil and structural engineering capacity.
- Ability to deliver quality outputs and meet project timelines effectively.
- Analysis and design of structures in all materials.
- Experience with industry standard software (pref TEDDS, ROBOT, Masterseries) and working in the digital engineering environment (REVIT, Navisworks).
- Knowledge of Eurocodes (and British Standards).
- Membership of an associated professional body and working towards Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer professional status.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations, with the talent to think effectively and clearly and implement effective solutions when faced with challenging stakeholders.
- Wider design or construction related experience.
