We are looking to recruit a Systems Engineer / Integration Engineer for our defence aerospace client based in Warton, near Preston, working on the European Common Radar System (ECRS). You will be working on the integration and test of complex radar systems and provide additional support in managing suppliers and acting as a communications bridge to the customer requirement.
The ECRS Mk2 Radome and Radar are complex equipment comprised of a number of individual items and are currently being developed to meet the challenging needs of the UK Customer. This requires a skilled and flexible Systems Engineer to ensure the required capabilities are realised. This role will involve working closely with Suppliers, Procurement, sub-system teams, systems integrators and engineering management. It requires strong organisational skills and the ability to develop positive and proactive internal and external relationships. A self-sufficient approach to managing tasks is essential. This position may require travel to supplier sites.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Support the development and delivery of the ECRS Mk2 Radome and Radar equipment; including participation in the Supplier's regular engineering reviews and review of supplier submitted Data Requirement Lists and other locally produced material.
- Lead the development of the ECRS Mk2 Radome and Radar equipment 6000hr Preliminary Declaration of Design and Performance's (PDDP's) with Suppliers; ensuring all delivered Data Requirement Lists are of an appropriate quality and is endorsed by the necessary stakeholder community.
- Support the development of Production Acceptance Test Specifications with Suppliers; ensuring the proposed test methodology is deemed acceptable by the UK MoD SMEs.
- Support the delivery of the ECRS Mk2 Radome and Radar equipment into the aircraft integration and flight test phases of the programme.
- Support the on-going maintenance and upkeep of the legacy M-Scan Radome and Radar equipment; ensuring all changes are managed through the Equipment Alteration Proposal Form (EAPF) and Mods process in a timely fashion in line with programme milestones without impact to quality and safety.
- Continuously assess opportunities for improvement and efficiency saving.
Requirements:
- Proven ability in a Systems Engineering role within the aerospace sector.
- Knowledge of Airborne Radar Systems Integration - ideally airborne AESA technology but open to other sensor systems.
- Knowledge of Supplier Management and also able to bridge the gap to the customer requirement.
- Knowledge of Quality Management: Desirable.
Additional Information:
The successful candidate will need to hold a UK MOD Security Clearance to SC level prior to starting, the client will sponsor a new application if you are not currently cleared.
