My client provides an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and home decarbonisation. This role will be within the Transmission & Renewables team. They design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Their teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.
They are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in the Melksham area. You will be required to attend Substation sites at least 3 days a week. A driving licence is required.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to take on a key role. You will be instrumental in ensuring the financial success of contracts, working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to drive value and mitigate risk.
What will you be doing?
- Oversee all commercial aspects of multiple projects from inception to final account.
- Expertly manage and administer NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contracts (ECC), including Early Warnings, Compensation Events, and payment applications.
- Implement robust cost control measures, produce accurate CVRs, and provide detailed financial reports and forecasts to senior management.
- Proactively identify, assess, and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage the procurement and commercial administration of subcontractors, ensuring compliance and performance.
- Meticulously manage all contract variations and compensation events, negotiating and agreeing on fair and reasonable costs.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, and internal project teams.
- Potentially mentor and guide junior members of the commercial team.
What you’ll bring
- Substantial experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
- In-depth, practical knowledge and experience of managing contracts under the NEC 3 or NEC4 suite.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Previous experience with Substations/ High Voltage Power.
