Location: Altrincham / Manchester. This can be worked on a hybrid basis, three days in the office and two remote.

About this role: Due to new project wins and continued growth, we're looking for Senior Nuclear HVAC Engineers to join our Power, Process & Nuclear division. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects across the defence and nuclear new-build industries. As part of our growing team, you will contribute to high-profile engineering challenges while developing your career within an organisation committed to supporting your professional growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed design calculations to support design requirements
  • Producing documentation, assessment/condition reports, survey reports, basis of designs, procurement specifications, etc.
  • Production and review of detailed design calculations to support design proposals
  • Production and review of detailed design drawings, layouts and schematics including heating, ventilation, LTHW, Chilled Water, specialist LEV and BMS installations
  • Experience in the delivery of written work, eg. functional Specifications, Basis of Design, Equipment Specifications and Validation and Verification plans.
  • Producing estimates of work elements including equipment and man hour costs
  • Supporting the preparation of bids and estimates
  • Ensure compliance with construction (design and management) regulations
  • Mentoring and guidance of junior staff

Requirements:

  • Degree in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Chartered status with the IMechE or other relevant professional body
  • Experience within a highly regulated environment (Nuclear preferable, but will consider Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical and Rail experience)
  • Preferably knowledge & experience in nuclear containment ventilation design
  • Broad knowledge of industry standards, legislation, and engineering principles, ideally including knowledge of nuclear ventilation guidelines and standards
  • Experience of using design software such as Hevacomp, IES, Pipenet
  • Revit and AutoCAD knowledge and experience will be beneficial
  • Initiative and self-motivation to make decisions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of current Building Regulations and relevant Legislation

This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of the Nuclear HVAC field, delivering impactful projects for some of the industry's most prominent clients. Due to the sensitivity of some of our projects, candidates will be required to apply for and obtain UK Security Clearance.
