We are now seeking an experienced Power Civils Lead to guide multidisciplinary teams, deliver high-quality design solutions and support the next generation of engineers. What You'll Do

  • Take responsibility for civil engineering outcomes across multiple projects, ensuring quality, consistency and technical rigour.
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of civil engineers and designers working across a diverse power project portfolio.
  • Oversee design packages for substations, substation extensions/upgrades, onshore renewables and wider grid infrastructure.
  • Ensure robust quality assurance, technical governance and design compliance.
  • Undertake technical and feasibility studies, site investigations and engineering assessments.
  • Support bids, tenders and proposal development for new opportunities.
  • Provide on-site engineering advice and resolve project-based civil/structural issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Coordinate effectively with internal disciplines, external consultants, suppliers and clients.
  • Manage project budgets, resource plans and delivery schedules.
  • Identify, communicate and manage design changes and associated impacts.
  • Utilise a range of civil and structural design software and digital tools to deliver efficient engineering solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • HND or Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Ideally IEng or CEng, with membership of ICE, IStructE or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years' civil/structural design experience in substation or electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background within the Electrical Transmission & Distribution sector.
  • Solid understanding of CDM regulations.
  • Good knowledge of UK Environmental and Waste Management legislation.
  • Detailed familiarity with National Grid Transmission Procedures.
  • Proven ability to supervise, mentor and lead technical teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to balance technical detail with project-level oversight and delivery.
