Morson Edge are currently supporting a leading employee-owned placemaking consultancy to recruit experienced Town Planners at Senior, Principal and Associate level across their Bristol and Cardiff studios. The practice works across a strong pipeline of residential, regeneration, education, healthcare, commercial, energy and mixed-use projects, supporting both public and private sector clients.

The Opportunity

  • Lead and manage a wide range of planning applications, appeals and site appraisals
  • Provide strategic planning advice across multiple sectors and project types
  • Manage and develop strong client relationships in a consultancy environment
  • Work closely with urban design and landscape colleagues to deliver integrated, place-based solutions
  • Support and mentor junior team members as part of a collaborative planning function

Role Overview

You will take a leading role in delivering planning projects from early feasibility through to determination, working across both strategic and detailed planning stages. The role is client-facing and will involve coordination of multidisciplinary inputs, stakeholder engagement, and contribution to wider project strategy within a commercially driven consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning applications, appeals and site promotion work
  • Prepare high-quality planning reports, statements and assessments
  • Manage client relationships and coordinate internal and external project teams
  • Support stakeholder engagement, consultations and planning committees
  • Collaborate with design disciplines to ensure integrated development outcomes
  • Mentor and support junior planners within the team
  • Contribute to business development and work-winning activity

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Town Planning or related discipline
  • MRTPI qualified or working towards chartership
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and policy framework
  • Proven consultancy or local authority experience managing planning projects
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder engagement experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
