Our client is a leading technology and technical services business, delivering critical digital infrastructure across the UK and Ireland. They design, build and maintain complex solutions that keep people connected and essential services running safely.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their Highways team with additional support across a range of key contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Commercial Manager you will work closely with the wider commercial team, Telent legal, and the wider Telent Project team to provide commercial support and expertise.
- You will have the opportunity to be involved with the ongoing contract management and contract change control for a major high value project.
- Have the desire to learn and develop your commercial skills in order to work with minimal supervision within the corporate governance structure.
- The role will require commercial experience and knowledge that can be drawn on to understand and implement the requirements of the business.
Deliverables:
- Providing advice on contract documents and schedules to the wider project team.
- Provide general commercial advice and assistance to the wider project team including supporting Innovation Project bidding.
- Co-ordination of the signature process for Contract Changes, Non-Disclosure Agreements and other contractual documents.
- Responsible for building a strong working relationship of mutual trust and respect with the relevant members of the Customers Team and key internal customer groups.
- Manage Contract Change processes, from Change Request, Impact Assessments through to signature of the Contract Change.
- Draft standard contract change requirements, and support the Commercial Manager in the development of more complex change requirements.
- Maintain Change and Innovation Projects Logs.
- Arrange signature and appropriately file Contract Changes.
- Maintain a working copy of the Agreement incorporating the agreed change.
- Provide support and tracking of the proposal and approval process for additional projects work ensuring the applicable internal and customer approval paperwork is appropriately completed and managed.
- Log and maintain contractual documentation on the central document management system ensuring current issues are always in place.
- Arrange and co-ordinate the meetings that underpin the Contract Management Process and manage, write and circulate the minutes and other associated documentation (change log etc).
- Provide commercial support and assistance as required to the Commercial Manager including assisting with larger/more complex contract changes and commercial contracts etc.
- Become knowledgeable on the contract.
- Support full delivery of smaller contracts, being the key Commercial contact in some cases.
- Deputise for the Commercial Manager in their absence.
Experience:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of commercial risks and issues.
- Customer facing experience essential.
- Contract law knowledge desirable.
- Experience of drafting contract changes/variations desirable.
- Understanding of commercial processes and typical contractual terms.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft applications; essential are Word and Excel, Powerpoint is desirable.
Qualifications:
- Degree/HND/HNC in a legal or other appropriate discipline is desirable but not essential. Depth and breadth of experience will be taken into account where these qualifications have not been attained.
