Morson are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering organisation supporting the UK nuclear industry for an EC&I Project Engineer to join their established team at Heysham Nuclear Power Station. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering engineering projects that support one of the UK's critical nuclear generation sites. Working within a highly regulated environment, you'll be responsible for delivering Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

The Role

As an EC&I Project Engineer, you'll support the successful delivery of engineering and construction projects across the station, working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers and station engineering teams. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing and maintaining engineering documentation, technical specifications and quality plans
  • Managing technical queries throughout the project lifecycle
  • Supporting contractor selection and contract award activities
  • Reviewing contractor designs, drawings and technical documentation
  • Carrying out feasibility studies, technical assessments and site surveys
  • Preparing Engineering Changes and managing associated documentation
  • Supporting commissioning activities and acting as Test Team Leader where appropriate
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and within quality expectations
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, construction and operations

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for engineers with experience delivering projects within highly regulated industries. Ideally you’ll have:

  • HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation or related engineering discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration (desirable)
  • Experience delivering engineering or construction projects
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation, technical specifications and change control
  • Experience working within safety, environmental and quality management systems
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations and construction project delivery
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • SMSTS qualification (desirable)
  • Formal project management qualification (advantageous)
  • Previous experience within nuclear, power generation or other highly regulated industries would be beneficial, although candidates from sectors such as oil & gas, defence, pharmaceuticals, utilities or petrochemical are also encouraged to apply.
