An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Environmental Manager to join a major infrastructure project based in Saxmundham, Suffolk. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity offering long-term career prospects for the right candidate.

We are looking for a proactive Environmental Manager with a strong background in construction and sustainability to lead environmental compliance across a complex infrastructure project. You will provide expert environmental guidance to project teams, ensure compliance with legislation and client requirements, and drive sustainability initiatives throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the environmental subject matter expert for the project team.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the project's Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and client requirements.
  • Identify environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Deliver environmental training and awareness across site teams.
  • Carry out environmental audits, inspections and support external audits.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Produce environmental reports, KPI data and sustainability performance updates.
  • Support carbon reduction, biodiversity, waste reduction and wider sustainability initiatives.
  • Promote environmental best practice and continuous improvement across the project.
  • Attend client meetings and liaise with regulators and key stakeholders where required.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience in environmental management within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Professional membership with a recognised environmental body such as IEMA, CIWEM or CIWM.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Experience assessing environmental aspects and impacts and implementing effective control measures.
  • Good understanding of UK environmental legislation and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of sustainability principles including carbon reduction, circular economy, biodiversity, waste management and social sustainability.
  • Experience conducting environmental audits and inspections.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
