Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Technical Delivery (40%)
    • Lead the design and development of high-integrity electronic and electrical systems, including digital, analogue, mixed signal, and power electronics.
    • Support system architecture definition and detailed design activities, including schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, and qualification.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental, EMC/EMI, safety, and performance requirements.
    • Lead and contribute to design reviews (PDR, CDR), ensuring robust technical assurance.
    • Promote Design for Manufacture, Test, Reliability, and Support across all engineering activities.
    • Collaborate with systems, mechanical, and production teams to optimise integration and delivery.
  • Leadership and Capability Development (60%)
    • Provide technical leadership across the Electronic and Electrical discipline.
    • Mentor and develop engineers at all levels, supporting professional growth and capability uplift.
    • Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, tools, and governance.
    • Support recruitment, onboarding, and long-term capability planning.
    • Work cross-functionally with Systems, Software, Mechanical, and Programme teams to ensure aligned delivery.
    • Contribute to bids, proposals, and customer-facing technical discussions.
    • Provide oversight across project lifecycles, managing technical risk, dependencies, and priorities.
    • Ensure compliance with defence standards, export controls, and regulatory requirements.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience delivering complex electronic and electrical systems within defence, aerospace, or similar regulated environments.
  • Strong background in high-reliability design, including multi-layer PCB design, FPGA/microprocessor systems, power electronics, and signal conditioning.
  • Proven experience leading design reviews and ensuring technical assurance.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, both internally and customer-facing.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams.
  • Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance (SC).

Desired:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng), or working towards.
  • Experience across full product lifecycle, from concept through to in-service support.
  • Strong understanding of verification, validation, and qualification processes.
  • Experience contributing to engineering governance and continuous improvement initiatives.
