An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Cost Controller / Senior Cost Controller to join a leading global consultancy delivering major infrastructure programmes across the UK. Working within a collaborative Project Controls team, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects across sectors including Water, Utilities, Aviation, Energy and Transportation. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile programmes while contributing to the effective management of project cost performance from inception through to completion.
As a Cost Controller, you will be responsible for producing accurate, timely and insightful cost reporting to support project performance and decision-making. You will work closely with project teams to monitor budgets, track expenditure, forecast costs and provide robust project controls information throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain project cost control structures to accurately track and manage project expenditure.
- Establish and manage project control budgets in line with approved cost baselines.
- Monitor and report actual costs for both internal and external expenditure.
- Track project commitments and accruals against approved budgets.
- Produce cost forecasts, including Estimate to Complete (ETC) and Estimate at Completion (EAC).
- Deliver accurate and timely cost reporting, including Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics and performance analysis.
- Monitor project contingency, risk exposure and cost impacts associated with project risks.
- Manage project change control, ensuring alignment with approved cost baselines.
- Analyse cost trends and provide insights to support informed project decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with Planning, Commercial, Project Management and Finance teams to ensure consistent project controls across the programme.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Project Controls or another relevant discipline.
- Approximately 5β10 years' experience in Cost Control or Project Controls on major infrastructure projects or programmes.
- Experience delivering cost management and reporting within sectors such as Water, Utilities, Aviation, Rail, Highways or Energy.
- Strong understanding of project budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting and financial performance management.
- Experience producing Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working within NEC contracts or major infrastructure environments would be advantageous.
