Morson Talent are currently recruiting for a Business Development Officer to work on the behalf of one of our clients based near Shaftesbury. This is a contract role for 6 months initially, with possibility of extension beyond this.
In this role, you will support the growth of the business by identifying and developing new commercial opportunities within the engineering, defence sectors.
Working closely with the Senior Business Development Team, the role is responsible for coordinating business development activities, supporting bids and proposals, maintaining customer relationships, and ensuring opportunities are progressed effectively through the sales pipeline.
Key Responsibilities Business Development
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities within the engineering/defence markets.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers, including OEMs, prime contractors, and supply chain partners.
- Conduct market research to identify upcoming programmes, procurement opportunities, and emerging technologies.
- Support the development and implementation of business development strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Attend customer meetings, industry exhibitions, trade events, and networking activities to promote the company's capabilities.
- Bid and Proposal Management
- Coordinate the preparation of Requests for Information (RFIs), Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs), Invitations to Tender (ITTs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and commercial submissions.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Commercial, Programmes and Finance teams to develop compliant and competitive proposals.
- Ensure all submissions meet customer specifications, quality standards, and submission deadlines.
- Maintain proposal templates, capability statements, case studies, and supporting documentation.
- Record bid outcomes and contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement activities.
Customer Relationship Management Act as a point of contact for customer enquiries and commercial requests.
Maintain regular communication with customers throughout the sales and bid lifecycle.
Support customer reviews, supplier meetings, and contract discussions.
Maintain accurate records of opportunities, contacts, and activities within the CRM system.
