About the Role: A highly motivated and experienced Financial Accountant to join the Finance Directorate to support a major cross-government programme that will replace legacy Finance, HR, and Procurement systems. This role focuses on the finance and procurement elements of the programme and how they impact the business. You will help shape new ways of working, improve processes, and ensure the organisation is ready for change. You will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, so you need to communicate clearly, work confidently on your own, and contribute effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage key finance deliverables within the transformation programme, working closely with subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Review inputs from SMEs for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Identify and escalate policy or process differences that require specific local decisions.
- Assess how proposed finance and procurement changes will impact the business.
- Review current processes and complete gap analysis against the new system.
- Map interdependencies across workstreams, including HR, to understand full change impact.
- Lead work to identify and realise benefits from the new system.
- Liaise with the Programme Management Office to support assurance and readiness.
- Attend programme workshops as a finance SME.
- Support finance and procurement business-as-usual activity where required.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Qualified accountant or actively working towards an accountancy qualification.
- Strong finance background with experience of process change or systems change.
- Able to analyse complex processes and translate them into clear actions.
- Confident working with multiple stakeholders across different functions.
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills.
- Comfortable challenging existing practices and highlighting risks.
- Clear communicator, written and verbal.
Location & Hybrid Working:
This role can be based at offices in Bootle. A hybrid working policy is in place, with regular office attendance expected to support collaboration and business needs. Some UK travel may be required.
Security Clearance:
This role requires baseline personnel security standard (BPSS) checks.
