About the Opportunity
Morson Edge Finance is partnering with an established organisation to recruit a Sales & Purchase Ledger Clerk into its finance team.
This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with previous transactional finance experience who is looking to take ownership of both purchase and sales ledger activities within a busy finance function. The role will involve managing day-to-day ledger processes, maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring invoices, payments and customer receipts are processed efficiently and to deadline.
You will work closely with suppliers, customers and internal departments, with responsibility across invoice processing, supplier statement reconciliations, customer invoicing, credit control, payment runs and banking allocations.
Key Responsibilities
Matching and coding supplier invoices
Allocating and reconciling supplier statements
Monitoring the purchase ledger inbox and resolving supplier queries
Liaising with internal departments to follow up on outstanding invoices
Dealing with inbound supplier queries and calls
Scheduling supplier payments and assisting with monthly BACS payment runs
Following established processes for invoice management and filing
Raising customer invoices and credit notes
Chasing outstanding customer payments and resolving invoice queries
Reviewing daily banking and allocating customer receipts against invoices
Setting up new customer accounts, including issuing account forms and completing initial credit checks
Monitoring customer accounts and identifying high-risk accounts and slow payers
Assisting with relevant audit requests
Providing finance cover during periods of holiday or sickness where required
Supporting the wider finance team with day-to-day transactional activities
About You
We are looking for someone with previous experience within a Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Accounts Assistant or similar transactional finance role who is comfortable managing a varied workload across both sides of the ledger.
You should have:
Previous experience within a transactional finance role
Experience across purchase ledger and/or sales ledger processes
Good understanding of invoice processing and supplier statement reconciliations
Experience preparing or assisting with BACS payment runs
Experience raising customer invoices and dealing with payment queries
Good attention to detail and accuracy
Confident communication skills when dealing with suppliers, customers and internal departments
Good organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines
Experience using finance systems and Microsoft Excel
A reliable and proactive approach to managing your own workload
