Duties/responsibilities:

  • Lead and continuously develop environmental culture across all projects.
  • Act as the lead for ISO 14001, ensuring environmental policies and procedures are robust, implemented and effective.
  • Oversee the ISO 50001 Energy Management System, identifying efficiencies across fleet, plant and fixed assets.
  • Lead compliance with PAS 2080 (Carbon Management) and ensure carbon is considered throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance on emerging technologies, including EV, Hydrogen capture and Battery Energy Storage Systems.
  • Lead investigations of environmental incidents and ensure lessons learned are communicated across the business.
  • Develop strategies that address pollution prevention, waste minimisation and specific operational risks.
  • Act as primary point of contact for environmental performance with clients and regulators.
  • Support bids and tenders with high quality environmental documentation and carbon reduction statements.
  • Coordinate external audits and maintain a high-performing Integrated Management System (IMS).

Requirements:

  • A qualified environmental professional (IEMA Practitioner/Full Member).
  • Experienced in civil engineering or utilities.
  • Lead Auditor for ISO 14001.
  • Knowledgeable in PAS 2080, carbon management and energy reporting.
  • A strong communicator and influencer at all levels.
  • Passionate about sustainability and environmental protection.
