The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer to join their growing civil engineering and rail infrastructure team across Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity to become involved in the delivery of a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects, such as energy, highways, bridges and earthworks projects. About the Role
Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of civil engineering works across a variety of infrastructure sectors. Typical project involvement may include:
- Highways and road construction
- Underbridges, overbridges and footbridges
- Tunnels and flood alleviation schemes
- Earthworks and embankment stabilisation
- Substation civils and access roads
- Energy and utilities infrastructure projects
Reporting to the Project Manager or Site Agent, you will be responsible for supporting the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of construction activities on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all site activities are delivered in accordance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction information.
- Carry out setting out and surveying activities to ensure works are delivered accurately.
- Maintain dimensional control and engineering standards throughout project delivery.
- Supervise site activities including direct labour, plant operations and subcontractors.
- Monitor progress and assist with programme delivery.
- Produce and maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries and quality documentation.
- Undertake materials take-offs and support procurement activities.
- Assist with planning daily and weekly works programmes.
- Support the preparation of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Work Package Plans and associated project documentation.
- Contribute to risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure works are delivered to specification.
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineers where appropriate.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications
- Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience
- Previous experience working as a Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong setting out and surveying experience.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Experience maintaining dimensional control on construction projects.
- Experience supervising labour, subcontractors, plant and materials on site.
- Strong record-keeping and quality assurance experience.
- Experience producing and managing site documentation including ITPs, quality records and work package plans.
- Good understanding of construction methodologies and site operations.
