As an experienced Project Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the multi-discipline Engineering Design team delivering several FEED and Detailed Design brownfield projects on a UK Terminal over a period of two years. The role will be based at the Costain Aberdeen Office with an expectation of office-based working for at least three days per week.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering design on major projects through the project life cycle to meet the project schedule, budget, safety and quality requirements.
  • Co-ordinating Engineering and Design interfaces between Costain, Client, Execution Contractor and supply chain.
  • Acting as the engineering focal point with the Project Management team for contractual communications, progress meetings, risk reduction, cost reporting, coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams and managing actions.
  • Regularly reporting to senior operational management on the performance of the engineering delivery for the project.
  • Providing a commercial focus with a high level of challenge on project scope and protecting against uncontrolled scope creep.
  • Ensuring effective deployment and use of company engineering delivery processes on projects including engineering design strategy master deliverable register, project schedule, work/cost breakdown structure process safety management and engineering governance process.
  • Identifying key project and programme risks early, and mitigating where possible, with issues and blockers escalated immediately.
  • Fostering collaborative and high-performing relationships by maintaining transparent communication with colleagues and subordinates, building mutual trust and championing a supportive team culture.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in coordinating multi-discipline teams across the project life cycle on major contracts in the onshore Oil & Gas sector.
  • Thorough knowledge of the major project delivery process from work winning to project handover.
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK technical and regulatory standards and global best practice.
  • Strong process safety, quality and environmental leadership focus.
  • Significant knowledge and understanding of Project Controls, including Schedule, Cost, Risk and Change Management.
  • Experience in the requirements for applying CDM 2015 regulations as Principal Designer and CE marking of plant/equipment.
  • Honours Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering related subject.
  • Chartered Engineer and Membership of a professional engineering institution.
  • Project Management qualification.
