Our client NEO Next are currently recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to join their team based in Aberdeen on a contract basis initially. Ideally for this role they are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with an Oil and Gas Background.
Job Overview
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring engineering & maintenance activities adhere to regulatory standards and company policies while providing front-line technical support to offshore operations. The role has an electrical engineering and maintenance focus and manages the electrical budget and execution strategies to enhance safety and performance. Supports change management and budget preparation. Optimizes maintenance plans, ensures spare parts availability, and maintains accurate records. Supports shutdown processes and conducts audits for process compliance. Proactively addresses equipment lifecycle issues, participates in failure analysis, and drives innovation for improved facility safety and performance.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Responsible for compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Represent the asset(s) during regulatory inspections and provide responses to questions and inspection findings.
- Engage with key vendors/suppliers to deliver engineering and maintenance in support of offshore operations.
- Ensure engineering changes are delivered in accordance with Statutory Regulations, Health, Safety & Environmental practices and Company Electrical Safety Rules.
- Responsible for competence assessments and appointments of REP, CEP & AEPs on the asset(s).
- Responsible for asset minor modifications, software changes and controlled Cat 1 documents.
- Arrange and track to completion any electrical actions, audits, inspections and NCRs.
- Timely management of electrical maintenance deferrals for planned and corrective maintenance work.
- Ensure compliance with written scheme assurance and verification requirements and manage any associated actions.
- Prepare and manage the asset(s) electrical budget, aligning with asset objectives.
- Promote and implement technological innovations to enhance facility safety, production performance, and reliability.
- Proactively address equipment lifecycle issues, implement reliability improvement actions, and manage vendors for key mechanical equipment contracts.
- Conduct audits and reviews to ensure process compliance and quality completion of maintenance activities.
- Support the shutdown team throughout the Planned Maintenance Shutdown (PMSD) process, from scope identification to execution.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and CMMS data, including discipline-related shutdown activities.
- Act as the discipline competent person, supporting change management processes and providing technical assistance to asset(s).
- Manage maintenance activities, including budget oversight, planning, and execution, emphasizing cost control measures and competence in vendor management for quality and budget adherence.
- Provide front-line technical support and guidance to ensure electrical equipment reliability and availability.
Professional Skills and Experience
- Significant knowledge of electrical engineering principles associated with upstream oil & gas processing.
- Significant experience in REP assessment and appointments.
- Competent in the use of CMMS.
- Previous maintenance experience within the oil and gas industry.
