My client is seeking a highly skilled and responsible HV/LV Authorised Person to manage the safe operation, isolation, and maintenance of High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical systems in the London area. This critical role holds full ownership of Fixed Wire Testing and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) programmes, manages all annual building electrical shutdowns, and acts as the primary technical expert and point of contact for all electrical matters within the organisation. Key responsibilities include issuing and authorising Permits to Work (PTW) under BS 7671 and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, performing safe isolation and switching operations on HV/LV systems, and implementing Lock-Off Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures. The role involves planning and coordinating annual building shutdowns, managing contractor resources, and ensuring all statutory and compliance activities are completed within shutdown windows. You will own and manage the Fixed Wire Testing programme, maintaining schedules, contractor relationships, and compliance reporting, as well as the PAT testing programme, ensuring all portable electrical equipment is tested and tracked appropriately. The role requires providing expert technical leadership on electrical matters, supporting fault diagnosis, incident investigations, and liaising with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and equipment manufacturers. Additional duties include monitoring HV/LV system performance, overseeing statutory maintenance, managing contractors, maintaining comprehensive documentation and records, and delivering training and mentoring to electrical teams to promote a strong safety culture. Skills HV Authorised Person certification (11kV or 33kV) LV Authorised Person certification BS 7671 (18th Edition) qualified and current City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection and Testing) or equivalent Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent Minimum 5 years' experience with HV/LV electrical systems Proven experience managing building shutdowns and Fixed Wire Testing programmes Strong knowledge of electrical safety regulations and permitting processes Competence in contractor and vendor management Excellent communication and leadership skills Software/Tools CAFM systems (e.g., Corrigo, Maximo) Electrical testing and reporting software Certifications & Standards HV and LV Authorised Person certifications BS 7671 (18th Edition) City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent (desirable) Professional registration (IEng or EngTech) desirable Arc Flash and thermographic surveying certification (desirable) This role is temp to perm and is paying £31.25 per hour PAYE + holiday pay or £41.25 per hour Umbrella.
