The Opportunity
I am currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturer operating within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on engineering position where no two days are the same, with a mix of preventative maintenance, reactive fault-finding, and continuous improvement projects.
Role Purpose
You will play a key part in supporting production workflow and ensuring the smooth running of machinery across the site. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment, as well as carrying out general facility maintenance when required—all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and repair machinery and equipment
- Deliver preventative maintenance on production and facility systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine faults independently
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Refine and improve existing maintenance processes and procedures
- Ensure accurate documentation of all maintenance and repair work
- Work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Uphold excellent standards of housekeeping across the site
- Drive a strong culture of safety, reporting incidents and promoting best practice in line with Health & Safety legislation
- Contribute to a positive team environment by demonstrating professionalism and supporting colleagues
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles (essential)
- IT literate with good organisational and problem-solving skills
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Knowledge of the injection moulding process (desirable)
Experience
- Proven experience fault-finding on factory plant and machinery
- Skilled in carrying out repairs, servicing, and modifications
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or FMCG environment
Qualifications
- Engineering qualifications at Level 3 (essential)
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- 18th Edition, 2394/95, or apprentice-trained background (desirable)
