Role Description
An exciting opportunity to join a tight knit team providing Spacecraft Operations support to BAE Systems existing and future in orbit assets. This is a true transformation-focused interim assignment. You'll play a key role in embedding new ways of working and leaving a lasting operational legacy. The position offers a chance to take a leading role in the full life of a satellite mission, from feasibility, through to on the ground testing, LEOP, routine operations and end-of-life. Providing a vital role for missions, through specialist knowledge, hands-on involvement and problem solving in a fast-paced environment. The role is varied, combining responsibilities across system engineering, spacecraft operations, mission management and planning.

Core Duties
- Completing Platform commissioning and Payload commissioning for an October launch
- Rapidly assess current spacecraft operations and processes
- Identify and clearly communicate operational constraints, risks, and improvements
- Lead improvements to operational procedures, mission planning and commissioning processes
- Provide hands-on support in live spacecraft operations (including anomaly resolution)
- Operational testing and supporting Systems Testing
- Fault diagnosis from technical logs sent back from satellite systems
- Diagnose and produce manual test procedures and supporting testing activities
Knowledge:
Essential:
- Strong working knowledge of satellite subsystems (AOCS/GNC or OBDH advantageous)
- Demonstrable experience mission control systems, planning, operations tools and simulators
- Proven experience in spacecraft operations within the satellite industry or similar e.g Aeronautic (Avionic/Propulsion systems)
- A track record of improving processes, implementing best practice, and mentoring teams
- Comfortable working in high-demand operational environments, including on-call support
Desirable:
- Knowledge of orbital mechanics and flight dynamics, with experience in formation flying and /or close proximity satellite operations
- Demonstrated solid systems engineering knowledge within space missions
- Proven ability with Python, GIT and Rest API, Linux OS and service management tooling
- Knowledge of onboard software – Bright Ascension Ltd provided
