The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

Morson are recruiting on behalf of a leading aerospace and defence client based in Oxford. This is initially a 12 month contract although highly likely to be long-term.

Shift options available are as follows (preferences open to candidates):

  • Earlies and Lates: 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm Monday-Friday rotated week - 33.19 PAYE plus 4.82 per hour holiday pay / 44.40 Umbrella
  • Night shift - 35.95 per hour PAYE plus 5.23 per hour holiday pay / 48.10 Umbrella
  • 4 on 4 off - 35.95 per hour PAYE plus 5.23 per hour holiday pay / 48.10 Umbrella

Duties:

  • Execution of Electrical and Functional test procedures on Engineering test benches and flight spacecraft.
  • Use of the Central Checkout System (CCS), Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and Spacecraft Check Out Equipment (SCOE) to support the test activities.
  • Validation of test-aids, break out boxes, cables etc.
  • Test procedure updates, raising work orders, test reports and other test documentation.
  • Support in the development and debug of Automatic Test procedures (ATP) using a bespoke high-level S/W language to test the spacecraft subsystems on a Satellite Simulator, test bench or the spacecraft.
  • Supporting electrical integration, automated and manual tests at unit, subsystem & system level.
  • Spacecraft electrical test and support during environmental test and launch activities.
  • Work to company and departmental procedures and standards.
  • Support in the design and manufacture of electrical test aids, preparing drawings and manufacturing packs as well as overseeing the procurement of parts, manufacture and validation.
  • Support in the day-to-day running of the department with tasks such as test equipment recall for calibration, test campaign logistics and possibly export rating.

Experience (desirable over essential):

  • Competent in the use of various test equipment used for electrical and RF measurements, e.g. DMM, oscilloscope, signal generator, current probes, Data acquisition unit, signal generator, power meter, network analyser, data bus monitors etc.
  • Computer skills for preparing test documentation. Experience in using a Digital Design and Manufacturing System (DDMS) to raise work order, plans etc. would be beneficial.
  • Experience in updating test sequences/scripts for execution of spacecraft tests from the Central Checkout System (CCS) would be beneficial.
  • Spacecraft electrical and harness knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and awareness, e.g. Data Handling, Packet Utilisation Standards, Data Bus Communications – 1553, Spacewire, Attitude &, Orbital Control, Star Trackers, Gyros, Momentum Wheels, Power systems, batteries, Solar Arrays, Thermal Control, heaters, thermostats, etc.
  • Programming and scripting languages, in particularly writing and debugging automated test sequences would be beneficial.
  • Familiar with the Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Awareness of ‘cleanroom' disciplines.

Essential:

  • Electrical integration of equipment on a test bench or spacecraft.
  • Use of a wide range of electrical test equipment and test racks.
  • Executing test sequences/scripts on a test bench or spacecraft from a Central Checkout System (CCS) including making minor updates to these.
  • Electrical fault investigation and test debug.
  • Environmental and launch test campaigns.
  • Updating test procedures, writing work orders/plans and test reports and supporting test and non-conformance reviews.
