We are seeking an Electrical and Electronic Engineer to contribute to the development of naval electrical equipment, typically including power conversion, power distribution, control electronics, cabling, and electrical cabinets. The role requires strong practical engineering judgement, sound design-for-environment practices, and hands-on integration and fault-finding expertise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Electrical System Architecture & Integration
- Contribute to the development of equipment-level electrical architectures for naval and maritime systems, including power distribution, protection, control, and monitoring.
- Specify and integrate key electrical subsystems such as power controllers, matching networks, cabling assemblies, and rotating/power-transfer interfaces.
- Review and select suitable equipment from established suppliers, ensuring technical compatibility, reliability, and compliance.
- Ensure proper system-level grounding, bonding, insulation, and protective measures.
- Ensure engineering outputs meet requirements for safety, EMC/EMI, reliability, and maintainability.
- Cabling, Connectors & Transmission Paths
- Specify and design electrical cabling, harnessing, and connector solutions suitable for rugged maritime environments.
- Work with mechanical teams on power routing, tension-managed cable systems, rotating interfaces, and physical protection features.
- Ensure electrical performance and integrity under vibration, motion, load cycling, and environmental exposure.
- Power Distribution & Control
- Contribute to the development of equipment-level power distribution arrangements, including load analysis, derating, protective coordination, and component specification.
- Contribute to the integration of power conditioning, monitoring, and protective functions within electrical cabinets and assemblies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety standards and internal engineering processes.
- Testing, Verification & Commissioning
- Contribute to verification activities including functional testing, safety validation, and thermal/insulation integrity assessments.
- Support build, integration, installation, commissioning, and fault-finding activities.
- Engineering Governance & Documentation
- Produce and maintain engineering documentation, including wiring schedules, schematics, block diagrams, equipment specifications, and risk assessments.
- Contribute to technical reviews, design assurance activities, and safety analyses.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
