We are seeking an experienced General Foreman to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Scotland as part of a major long-term capital investment programme. Working within a MEICA and capital maintenance team, you will be responsible for supervising site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and to the required quality standards. You will lead site teams and subcontractors while promoting a strong health, safety, environmental, and quality culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to client specifications.
  • Manage direct labour, subcontractors, plant, and materials on site.
  • Assist with short-term planning and look-ahead programmes to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Support change management throughout the project lifecycle and implement mitigation plans for identified risks.
  • Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, daily briefings, and promote best practice in health and safety.
  • Monitor quality standards and ensure compliance with project procedures and specifications.
  • Coordinate site activities with project teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Support the management of customers and local communities affected by the works.
  • Maintain accurate site records, inspections, and progress reports.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience supervising civil engineering works within the water or utilities sector.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Large diameter pipeline installation
    • Streetworks
    • Deep excavations
    • Temporary works
    • Shaft construction
    • Reinforced concrete structures
  • Experience leading site teams and managing subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • SMSTS qualification.
  • NRSWA Supervisor accreditation.
  • EUSR DOMS Network qualification.
  • CSCS Gold Card.
  • Confined Space (Medium Risk) certification.
  • First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence with willingness to travel across Scotland.

Desirable

  • Construction Management qualification (HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience delivering projects within regulated water industry frameworks.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing site teams.
