Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading aerospace organisation to recruit a SHE Advisor to cover nightshift for an initial 12 month contract. There is a pay rate of up to £25.73 Per Hour PAYE Nightshift increase or £34.53 Per Hour Umbrella Nightshift increase on offer for the successful candidate. The role would be full time on site in Glasgow covering nightshift from Monday to Thursday.
The SHE Advisor will support the development and deployment of the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) policy, systems and objectives to the Operational Shifts on my client's site. This will be a nightshift role. The role will be responsible for providing competent SHE advice, systems and assurance enabling shift management teams to successfully manage SHE and to achieve company strategic goals.
The role holder will:
- Support the development, maintenance and/or deployment of a SHE management system (including objectives, processes and assurance) that meet the requirements of the Operational Framework and International SHE Standards (such as ISO45001 and ISO14001) and supports the achievement of organisational goals.
- Provide competent and comprehensive SHE advice and support to Line Leaders, enabling them to effectively manage SHE within their area(s) of responsibility.
- Supervise a team(s) of SHE professionals, either directly or indirectly through delivery of SHE projects and work packages.
- Lead activities associated with improving SHE practice and performance within a business or site(s), including deployment and implementation of SHE Policy and Management Systems, SHE objectives and targets, provision of competent SHE advice on risk management and control, collation and provision of SHE performance reports (such as incidents, audits, regulatory issues), investigation and reporting of incidents in accordance with regulatory and/or customer requirements, provision of an effective interface with regulators and representatives dealing with liability issues.
- Support the development and implementation of innovative SHE change programmes, ensuring consistency and effective improvement in SHE risk management and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and the sharing of best practices.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, influencing them to appropriately consider SHE factors during decision making.
- Provide assurance for determining compliance with relevant legal, Systems Operational Framework and SHE Management System requirements within a business or site(s).
- Deliver duties to appropriate timescales and to budget.
- Monitor the effectiveness, and provide regular reports, on all of the above to relevant stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities and Deliverables
The role holder will:
- Hold supervisory responsibility for a SHE team within a business or site(s), including pastoral care, allocating work, reviewing performance and time & attendance.
- Be seen by internal and external stakeholders as a subject expert and team leader for the SHE team within a business or site(s).
- Spend a large proportion of their time providing SHE advice and support for the management teams across the business or site(s), regularly partnering with others to meet organisation strategic goals.
- Be effective at influencing and coaching others to appropriately consider SHE during decision making.
- Support the development and/or lead the deployment of SHE strategy, policy and objectives for a business or site(s).
- Be proficient in carrying out accident, incident investigations leading these as necessary, employing appropriate investigation tools and techniques in order to identify root causes.
Qualifications:
The role holder is required to hold one or more of the following QCF/NQF Level 5 (or higher) SHE qualifications:
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Level 5
- NVQ in Occupational Safety and Health Practice Level 6
- NCRQ Diploma in Applied Health and Safety
- NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management
- Safety, Health and/or Environmental Honours Degree (Bachelors or Higher) or an equivalent qualification in Safety, Health and/or Environmental subject.
Typically holds a minimum of five years post-qualification experience in applying SHE knowledge and processes in work-related situations. Chartered membership of an appropriate professional safety, health and/or environmental institution is desirable.
