Our client is seeking either a Lead or a Senior Instrument Engineer, working Permanent or contract (outside IR35) for a role based in Falkirk, but allowing a degree of hybrid working. Senior Instrument Engineer Role Overview The Senior Instrument Engineer is responsible for the technical delivery, coordination, and assurance of instrumentation, control, and automation engineering activities across all phases of a project lifecycle, from concept and feasibility through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover. Ensuring engineering solutions are safe, compliant, fit for purpose, and delivered in accordance with project requirements, applicable standards, and company procedures. Key Responsibilities • Deliver instrumentation and control engineering designs in accordance with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable industry standards. • Produce, review, and approve discipline deliverables including instrument specifications, datasheets, control philosophies, instrument indexes, I/O schedules, and loop diagrams. • Support hazard studies, design reviews, SIL assessments, and functional safety activities. • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated and effective design solutions. • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality management requirements. • Support site surveys, and commissioning as required. • Participate in design reviews and assurance activities. • Assist with preparation of estimates to support proposals.
