We are currently seeking an experienced Decontamination Supervisor to support the safe, compliant, and effective operation of decontamination systems within a highly regulated, high-containment environment. This is a critical technical and supervisory role, acting as System Owner for autoclaves and washer disinfectors. The successful candidate will ensure all assets are operated, maintained, tested, and validated in line with statutory requirements and recognised standards.
This role will suit a detail-oriented professional with strong decontamination knowledge, experience in regulated environments, and the confidence to take technical ownership of safety-critical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Act as System Owner for autoclaves and washer disinfectors across the estate.
- Ensure full compliance with relevant legislation, standards and guidance including BS EN ISO 15883, BS EN 285 and HTM 01-01.
- Develop, implement and control Safe Systems of Work including SOPs, MOPs and EOPs.
- Coordinate testing, validation, revalidation and periodic inspections with specialist contractors.
- Review and authorise validation and test results, ensuring timely resolution of defects.
- Manage permits, isolations and safe reinstatement of decontamination systems.
- Maintain inspection-ready documentation, asset registers and CAFM records.
- Support audits, inspections and assurance activities.
- Provide technical guidance to engineering teams and operational stakeholders.
What we require from you:
- Proven experience working with autoclaves and/or washer disinfectors in a regulated environment (essential).
- Strong understanding of decontamination principles, validation and compliance requirements (essential).
- Experience supervising technical work or contractors in high-risk environments.
- Demonstrable competence in developing and enforcing Safe Systems of Work.
- High attention to detail with a strong safety and compliance mindset.
- Experience as a Competent Person or Authorised Person (desirable).
- Background in healthcare, laboratory, pharmaceutical or containment facilities (desirable).
- Familiarity with CAFM systems and asset management processes (desirable).
