Job Description
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our client's team and play a key role in keeping their advanced manufacturing operation running safely, efficiently and reliably.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preventive maintenance, fault finding, repairs and equipment improvements across a diverse range of manufacturing and facilities equipment, including CNC milling machines, EDM equipment, vacuum coating plants, lapping machines, motors, pumps and control systems.
Main Duties
- Carry out planned and preventive maintenance across manufacturing and facilities equipment.
- Diagnose faults, identify root causes and complete effective repairs to minimise downtime.
- Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control systems.
- Support the development of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams and technical instructions.
- Undertake mechanical fabrication, electrical installation, machine assembly and basic electronic work.
- Safely use power tools and mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment.
- Complete scheduled maintenance within agreed priorities and deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with maintenance, production teams, contractors and suppliers.
- Follow risk assessments and safe systems of work, maintaining a clean, safe and compliant environment.
- Identify practical improvements to enhance reliability, safety and production efficiency.
Skills & Experience
- Apprenticeship trained with NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds or equivalent in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Maintenance or a related discipline.
- Previous experience maintaining manufacturing or production equipment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, including fabrication, installation, assembly and basic electronics.
- Ability to work from engineering drawings and technical instructions.
- Organised, methodical and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
Hours: Monday-Friday, alternating weekly shifts:
- Week 1: 6am-2pm Mon-Thurs; 6am-12pm Fri.
- Week 2: 2pm-10pm Mon-Thurs; 2pm-6pm Fri.
